The ADE Paper Airplane Contest is open to all ages. It will be held opening day starting around 3 p.m.
There will be three categories of competition.
- Best Design. The winning entry will have a combination of several elements. It has to fly at least 10 feet. It should have a unique look including but not limited to shape, coloring, aesthetically pleasing, exceptional flight characteristics.
- Longest Flight/Most Accurate Flight. If weather permits the winner will be the plane that flys the furthest distance when thrown. The person throwing the airplane does not need to be the builder. If the weather is bad the competition will be for the plane that come closest to hitting a target 20 feet away. In the event of a tie or multiple ties, each contestant will throw again until there is one winner.
- Best Aerobatics. The winning design will be the plane that’s judged to do the most aerobatic moves and/or stay aloft for the longest period of time.
Each category will have a First, Second and Third Place winner. The airplanes must be constructed using 8.5″ x11″ sheets of paper or cardstock. Tape can be used but no more than 10″ total. Paperclips can be used but no more the 2 oz. weight total. Any decorative finishes can include non toxic paint, markers, crayons or other typical art media. No fabrics, dopes, glues, metal foils or composites.
The same plane can be entered in all categories. The winners will be decided by a panel of three judges.
